Blye’s design aesthetic reflects on the places she’s visited around the globe and the Sydney of her childhood. Her most recent work has included silver forging – a technique of hammering metal over variously shaped steel stakes. She applies this very traditional technique to the exploration of new forms, including a recent series of enigmatic shapes that respond to her urban environment in Inner Sydney. Since graduating with an Associate Diploma in Jewellery and Object Design at the Enmore Design Centre, Blye has worked in various areas of the jewellery industry. She has exhibited in numerous group shows, and has taught jewellery making since 2005. Hey lifelong passion for jewellery and her broad interest in contemporary art and design practices, combined with her technical knowledge, mean she can inspire and guide students of all levels thorough their metalwork explorations. Her work is available through the contemporary jewellery and object store ‘Sterling’ at Gaffa, where she is a studio resident.
